Michael Jordan, Legacy Partner
Upper Deck
Forty years after his rookie card, Upper Deck extended its exclusive relationship with Michael Jordan and named him the company's first Legacy Partner. The campaign flipped Upper Deck's famous 1992 “Trade Jordan” billboard into a new line: You don't trade greatness, you keep it for a lifetime.
The challenge
Turn a contract extension into a moment collectors could feel, then carry that energy into the Goodwin Champions launch at hobby shops, at retail and on Upper Deck's own channels.
What I did
Led digital marketing for the launch: paid media across our social and search channels, the announcement and redemption pages on upperdeck.com, and email to our collector base.
The outcome
23 Jordan-signed 1986-87 Fleer packs went into every Goodwin Champions format as redemptions, and a signed Rookie Card Box headlined an eBay auction with proceeds going to Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
